I can't send or receive email — what should I check?
Your email is run by your email provider (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.), so the fastest way to narrow down a problem is to log in to your email on the provider's website in a browser. If the website works, your account is fine and the problem is the mail app on your device. If the website doesn't work either, the account itself needs attention — and the provider's recovery page fixes that.
Step 1 — Test in a browser
Go to your provider's site — https://gmail.com, https://outlook.com, or https://mail.yahoo.com — and log in.
- It works: your mailbox is fine. Continue to Step 2.
- Your password is rejected: use the provider's reset — Gmail: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery — Outlook: https://account.live.com/password/reset — Yahoo: https://login.yahoo.com/forgot
- The site won't load at all: check whether other websites load (Step 4).
Step 2 — Browser works, but your mail app doesn't
Remove the email account from the app and add it back, choosing your provider by name (not "Other") so it configures itself. That clears out stale passwords and settings in one step.
Step 3 — Mail arrives, but sending fails (or vice versa)
Check the provider's own status and help pages — Gmail: https://support.google.com/mail — Outlook: https://support.microsoft.com — Yahoo: https://help.yahoo.com — they cover storage-full warnings, blocked messages, and sending limits.
Step 4 — Is it actually your internet?
If no websites load on any device, the issue is your connection, not email — see https://help.eyesurf.net/en/article/my-internet-stopped-working-1h8eo6m/ and we'll get you back online.
Still stuck?
