# Should I cancel my current provider before switching to Eyesurf?

No — please don't cancel your current provider until your Eyesurf service is installed and confirmed working. Eyesurf does not cancel your old provider for you, so once your Eyesurf connection is up and running, contact your old provider yourself to cancel. A short overlap between the two services means you're never left without internet if your installation needs a second visit or a date change.

## Who cancels my old service?

You do. Eyesurf doesn't contact your current provider on your behalf — you'll need to reach out to them to cancel once your Eyesurf service is active.

## The recommended order

1. Sign up with Eyesurf and receive your activation date.
2. Wait until your Eyesurf service is activated and working.
3. Contact your old provider to cancel, and return any of their rental equipment.

## Keeping your home phone number

If you have a home phone number you want to bring to Eyesurf, **don't cancel that line first** — a phone number can only be transferred while it's still active, so cancelling the old line before the transfer completes can mean losing the number. Tell our sales team you want to keep your number and we'll handle the transfer before you cancel anything.
