Fix Wi-Fi coverage issues with our self-help app.
Having a good Wi-Fi coverage in your home is as important as getting the right Internet speed/bandwidth. Maximizing your Wi-Fi coverage ensures that you are getting the most of your internet subscription.
Here are tips on how to get the most out of your Wi-Fi:
- Router placement - a clear line of sight to your wi-fi router ensures that there are no physical obstruction for the signal to reach your devices. These signals bounce off walls and dividers until they reach your device. The fewer bounces it takes to get to your device, the better.
- Building materials - different materials have different effects on the wi-fi signal. Plywood, drywall, and glass have the least effect. While concrete, metal and bricks have the most effect in blocking out wi-fi signals. The more you have these between your device and the router, the weaker the wi-fi signal becomes.
- Interference from other electronic devices - Microwave ovens, cordless phones, TVs, or other high powered electronics may be emitting signals that interfere with your wi-fi. Keep your router and wi-fi devices away from these if you are experiencing wi-fi issues.
Get to know your wi-fi coverage better, using your smartphone or a laptop, check the coverage at different parts of your house/building. If relocating the devices or the router is not enough to get a good coverage in some areas, you might need to use a wi-fi mesh system.
